Dear Jimmy Buffet,
I am in the business of saving boobs. Tights and a cape are not my uniform…but I do wear a bullet-proof pink bra… I keep getting myself into trouble by promising to do things that I have never done before. I don’t quite know how to describe me to you….I’m 6’1, bald and known for being a boy in a bra. Now, I understand that I’m not the first guy to wear a bra BUT I like to think that I do it for a good reason because let’s face it, as you may or may not know… as good as a good bra looks…these things really are not that comfortable.
My breast cancer fighting friends are spread throughout the country. They are some of the kindest, most dedicated people I know. I committed to them that I would raise $30,000 by October 31, 2009 (currently, this is more money that I make at my job). This money would enable people to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 Mile Walk who otherwise couldn’t walk. I have met SO many people that have so deeply and closely been affected by breast cancer. It is truly a life changing event.
Recently, I was trying to describe a 3 Day Walk to someone that has never done one. It always it ends up “You need to be there, you cannot understand it otherwise…” My friend, Laurie Detriville reminded me of your song “Manana” where you say “don’t try to describe a KISS concert if you’ve never seen it”…and an idea was born…

Jimmy, will you please be our guest at any upcoming 3 Day Walk? AND if you do, I will commit to wearing a bra…everywhere I go…and I mean EVERYWHERE in October…all 31 days.
